Description
The Broken River rises between Tolmie to the north and Merrijig to the south and flows in a westerly direction before turning north to flow into Lake Nillacootie. From there it continues in a northerly direction to Benalla where it fills Benalla Lake, then continues north for about 8 – 10 klm’s before turning west for around 40klm’s before joining the Goulburn River between Shepparton and Maroopna.
