A habitat restoration project was completed in 2014 on a stretch of the Ovens River at “Frosty Corner”. This involved placing large boulders and timber into the river to create depth and variability in the stream flow in an area previously degraded by mining and flooding. Access is about 4 km before (north of) Harrietville on the Great Alpine Road. Vehicle access may require 4WD to cross a ford, but foot access is easy and level.
