PROJECTS

Environmental enhancement projects

Between 2018 and 2025, some 535 volunteers gave their time and energy over 50 working days to contribute to our “Trees for Trout” planting program, where they planted in excess of 83,000 trees, shrubs and grasses along our streams to enhance the riparian areas that shade and feed the fish, platypus, and other organisms that call these streams their home. These projects also included 21 instream projects (log pinning, boulder seeding, fish hotels, etc.) to also enhance the aquatic habitat. Surveys conducted by VFA/DEECA following some of these projects indicate considerable benefits to the ecosystem.

Many other projects are listed for consideration in the future, so please give some thought to volunteering for one of these future projects. You can leave your details below and we will put you on our “volunteer army” list and contact you with project details as they become available.
