Unlike bygone days when dragging fallen logs out of the river was considered best practice, we now know that habitat restoration, together with riparian zone and riverbank management, is the best course of action to restore, enhance and sustain our recreational trout fishery. The Ovens River is an excellent example of modern habitat restoration.
